Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of sorting out Student Accommodation, and I have been given the option on whether I want to be in a quiet area or not. I really love to party and go out drinking, and love to socialise with others, however I don't want to be kept up at something like 3am because a neighbour is playing loud music.

For this reason, I want to say YES for quiet accommodation (I've already said yes for EN-SUITE and WELSH SPEAKING), but I don't want to be put with a group of people who never want to go out or socialise if I choose the quiet area. At the same time, I don't want to be kept up all night when not partying as it really stresses me out.

Does anyone have any advice or experience in regards to the quiet area at the university? Any help is strongly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Kai

PS. Also wanted to know if you can make normal amounts of noise outside of quiet hours (11pm - 8am) if anyone knows? Thanks

Hi Kaimund600. Living in Quiet accommodation doesn't mean you live with people who don't socialise. It just means that noise restrictions are in place between 11pm - 8am, which means everybody always comes home to a nice peaceful flat to sleep in - it doesn't mean you can't go out and have a good time It is also worth noting that noise restrictions are automatically in place during examination periods to ensure that your accommodation is conducive to study.

Where abouts at bay campus are the quiet area's located?

And what sort of requests can you make that are likely to be fulfilled?

Hi Slippy,

We don't set aside specific buildings for Quiet Areas as we allocate based on the demand for them. But if you request to live in a quiet area, or an alcohol-free area, you will get it.

Thanks, if I resubmit my accommodation request am i at risk of loosing any priority?
I do BTEC so my grades should come through in July/August, weeks before the results for A-levels.

My other question was: What sort of custom requests can you make that will be considered? What will just be ignored?

You should be able to log in to your Accommodation Account and make changes to your application. If you're having trouble doing this, you can email [email protected]

It's difficult to answer this question without knowing exactly what your requests are. The best thing to do is to submit the request and we can look into it for you.

Won't editing my application resubmit it and push me to the back of any Queue?

No, don't worry. Making changes will not affect the date when you first submitted your application.
