Yeah the nightlife at UEL is okay. If you live in halls it's only about 30 minutes from central London on the DLR/tube and 45-50 minutes back on the night bus. The question is whether you can endure the academic aspects of UEL.

I've only just started at UEL and I'd say the nightlife is pretty good. Like Iscariot said Central London is only 30 minutes away and there always seems to be something to do on campus - drinking in the SU, going to the boat party etc. I personally don't like clubbing etc so I can't really comment on that side of the uni but I would definately reccomend it to anyone. Do not listen to those who only ever write negative comments about the university, many have NEVER studied at the institution.

Hmm... I study at UEL and have to say that the nightlife is crap (in fact, so is the day-life). There's nowhere to hang out on campus; even the bar (the one bar on campus) is closed half the weekend. It's all very well going into central London but you could do that at stacks of uni's, and to be honest you won't be able to afford it much of the time. The place is dead, really, which is a real shame.

Half the weekend? It's closed on a Saturday. Mountains and molehills? I'm not saying UEL is the Mecca of university partying but it isn't really "dead" either.

There's another bar opening soon which sounds pretty good. I regularly go into central during the evening. If you like cheap bars there's a Lloyd's in Canary Wharf that sells food aswell (beer and burger - £4.65!), the cinema at the O2 is excellent. Overall I really like the Uni, I'm glad I wasn't put off by all the negative comments usually posted by people on this website. So far my experiences have been great - travel can get a bit pricey though - so invest in a student oyster card!

There's also going to be a student social room opening - although at the moment it seems to be full of boxes. Should be open after xmas I would imagine.
