In guildford clubs=
Harpers/The Lounge if its still called that. Normal club trying to look up market, pretty expensive once youre in. It can be alright and there are pole dancers which is always good.
Time which is ok again, where most students hang out, can be a few chavs there though, pretty small as well
That other one that I cant remember the name of whic his 60's themed or soemthing, has a colourful dancefloor and can be a laugh for one night. Too many old people there too often though lol.

So the club scene is pretty poor (youve also got the uni one). But there are toooones of bars and pubs. Like hundreds of them since us guildfordians are so trendy. Music scene is alright but you arent gonna get any big bands sepcially now the civics shut.
Union is really good when theres events on, normally have at least one big event each week e.g a few weeks ago we had the malibu soundclash tour, then we had 'back to school' night, pole dancing night etc etc. We also have a little bar called chancellors that does indie nights, open mike nights, comedy nights. Guildford itself can be a little expensive, harpers is okay but sometimes charges silly amounts to get in. Flares the 60's club is pure cheese, then theres a few others, Time and the Legion.
Good thing about surrey is that we're really close to kingston, the uni runs bus trips to clubs in kingston, someone told me you pay £10 for travel and your ticket - pretty damn good.
Hope that helps!

I am!
Time: Sticky/small/charvy dancefloor almost everynight, sometimes decent music, cheaper than most places
Harpers: Expensive drink prices for most things, expensive entrance fees unless you get there early, wannabe London club, looks quite good, probably the hippest place to go after pre-bars. Better music than The Works on your average night. Open mon, thurs, fri, sat
Voodo Lounge: Open tues, wed, thurs. Strip Bar when Harpers isnt open (so except thursday)
Bar Mambo: Pre-bar for Harpers, pretty much same drink prices as harpers, no entrance fee, not so good music
Wetherspoons: Like all wetherspoons, except quite fancy with music, cheap drinks
Yates: Pre bar, with small dance floor
Flares: Pre bar with dance floor, very cheasy music
Loads of pubs full of locals
The works isn't in the ford! Its in kingston where there are much better places to go than that like oceana! Bar Med is quite little but cheap and good for a "starting the night off" bar, same goes for spoons (wetherspoons). Time is the better nightclub in my opinion, Harpers is a rip off!!! The uni did quite a few coach trips to tiger tiger in croydon last semester for about £10 inc entry I think??

When our next events planner for the union comes out I'll post a pic of it or something to give you an idea of what gets put on for us on campus.

Sorry meant Time ofcourse, was thinking about The Works... and all the stabbings that go down there :p:. Oceana in Kingston's quite nice, big as anything!

No one has mentioned the Boileroom yet!

Its a well-equipped little venue. They have had loads of really good bands play there. It serves noodles during gigs and drinks are quite cheap.

Kingston is 10 mins drive from my place. Know it like the back of my hands. The most popular club there is Oceania, there is also a club opposite there called the Blue Hawaii. Oceania is very popular. Next to Oceania you got the Rotunda. Which a building for leisure. You got cinema, bowling downstairs and plenty of restaurants, including all you can eat Chinese on second floor =
Kingston itself is next to the river, if you want romantic restaurants by the river you have that option as well. The town is full of shops and during the day you got markets.
Hope that helps
Its spelled Oceana :s And Ive heard it the biggest club in London
For an example of nightlife on campus, for the 'end of year show' this year (3 nights of union action...) we had the hed kandi tour, zane lowe and vernon kay. We also had the venga boys last semester.........

yea you should see fri and sat night. Outside rows of prostitutes line up to get in(or at least what looks like) lol
It depends if you're into more clubbing, bars or alternative hangouts.

Clubs:
Dusk (can be a little chavvy at times because it's cheap to get in.)
Harpers (free before 10pm, but £14 after)
Flares (70s themed, rather cheesy)

Bars:
The Legion (for a more mature crowd)
Wetherspoons
Bar Med
Bar Mambo
Farenheit 55 (over 21s from the 25th)

Alt:
The Star
Royal Oak
The Plantation

I'm a fresher, what are the alternative places like?
I've been to flares and too many old people there. Rubix is getting too repetitive!

I'm a fresher too, I've just always lived in/around Gford.

Flares, yeah the people do tend to be a liiiittle older and occasionally creepier there.

Alternative, well the Plantation has some good gigs but I haven't been down there in a while. The Star is a good alt. pub that plays a lot of rock and metal, I'm there a lot these days and the crowd is usually rather different to places like Flares!
The Legion is a bar that's set out like a men's hunting club, but to be honest it's more for the older crowd and it would be better to take someone on a date to.
Royal Oak and Platform Nine have good gigs (my friend's band the Yearner Babies are playing P9 next weds)
Farenheit is good, it's pretty underground and mainly european techno music, but it's going over 21's from the 25th.
Annnd that's it pretty much! Well, that's it for whats on the high street anywho.
