Kings and Queen Mary's policy on REATKE student

Hi I've decided to apply to Glasgow and Leeds(they sounded promising even if I am a retake student ^_^), but the other 2 choices of Dental school's I am rather confused and need some helpful advice.

I want to apply to London Universities (I recieved a average of 600 on my UKCAT) What would be the better option Kings (who have told me word from word "I am afraid that we do not consider applications from retake candidates" so shall I rule that off completley??) Queen Mary's want extenuating circumstance and I don't have one.

My options are as follows.. is that I should choose two uni's from the following:
Queen Mary, Sheffield or Liverpool of whom I have not recieved a reply to my letters/emails concerning my dilemma. Do you guys know their policy on retake students ect ect as in they will score my slightly less than first time applicants but they'll consider me anyhow??

I need help with the last 2 choices of UNI!! help moi! Need to send the UCAS application tonight or tomorrow first thing.. ARRGGHH!!

I don't think that Glasgow, Liverpool and Queen Mary consider resit applicants without any extenuating circumstances. However, Leeds definitely does as well as Sheffield and Cardiff but it will be tough if you didn't apply to them before, especially the last two. I'm in similar situation but I have extenuating circumstances and did actually get two offers last year.

Hope all goes well!

Someone who has taken three years to complete their A levels as opposed to two. I resat my AS year, I applied to Leeds, Sheffield, Cardiff and Newcastle. Of those only the first three said they would consider resit applicants. As far as I know, as I phoned up the unis and asked them, Queen Marys and Kings do NOT consider resit applicants unless you had extenuating circumstances, whether you resat AS or A2.

Hope that helps.

Is it an A level module that you did a year early? TBH I don't know really cos that seems like a different sort of situation... you should contact the universities and ask them directly as they are the ones who have policies and know what they are talking about lol. Anyone on the admissions team should be happy to help

No mate, I meant the admissions team at the dental section of the university should be happy to help you, it's what they are there for after all.

I know, you SHOULDN'T be rejected cos it sounds like your school made you take that module early so you had no choice. But you should find out, any of these universities could easily say they don't agree with your point of view for whatever reason, because they need a way to cut down applicants. It wont hurt you to find out, and it'll stop your worrying. Good luck : )

I have contacted UCL by email. they said they will not accept my a-level maths ( i hope they understood that i actually havnt cashed in my as level grade..well anyway). So, i took further maths as my 5th subject and they said it will be fine. But my sixth form and old school are saying that my maths will be counted..UCL is making unreasonable fuss over this as they might not have understood my situation..well, whatever happens i have 5 a-levels to back me up.
this term was so messed up....i even cried for couple of days..coz its just unfair.

UCL? which course are you going to be doing with them. You can't do dentistry there so why does it matter. To me it seems a bit silly them not accepting it.

Try not to worry too much. It's maths and it's not compulsory for dentistry. Plus, how will the uni's ever know you took the module early. There's nowhere to say when you did the module right? Just the AS or A-level.

Aw hey it's ok. Everything will work out for you trust me, people are in so much worse a position than you. As long as other universities are still willing to consider you (and I SO don't see why they wouldn't cos you've not done anything to discriminate against...) then it'll sort itself out. Sometimes you just have to have faith. I know it's not what you want to hear :frown: I'm sorry.

Sorry if I came across as patronising btw. I just feel for you, it's really unfair that you have to retake a module that you have done exceptionally well in just to meet their requirements. You obviously took it early for a reason. I hope that it all works out for you.
