Why does it have to be one or the other? I hear this time and time again from Muslims and non Muslims that you can't be gay and Muslim.
As far I'm aware being gay does not take you out of the fold of Islam. Only gods knows who is Muslim and who is not. I am Muslim. I have read the kalima, I pray, I fast, treat people with respect, look after my parents and give to charity. But I am also a lesbian.
Commiting the act is a sin. But do I please everyone and marry a man and pretend I'm happy? In turn, making his life miserable since I am not attracted to men in the first place. or do I stay celibate for the rest of my life which would be a miserable existence and almost impossible, and lead to depression since it is human nature to crave love and Sexual intimacy.
Also I really can't find anything re:lesbianism. The act that seems to be sinful is sodomy. But isn't that unfair on gay men?
