Anyone with experience of applying for the Icelandic BA?

Sincere apologies if this is in the wrong place - I did search quite a bit before posting but couldn't find a thread that answered my questions.

I'm hoping someone can give me a heads-up as to how competitive the program is, and in particular how open the SELCS department is in general to non-standard applicants (I'm 35 and will be taking Access to HE from September this year to get myself up to scratch). I guess I'm mostly just concerned that I won't be taken seriously due to my age and the fact that I don't have a language A-Level (I've done a great deal of language study since leaving school, including Icelandic, but it's all been informal/self-guided). I'd be immensely grateful for any personal experiences!
