Maths algebra help?

I'm trying to solve
6(v-3) = 5(4-v)+4-3v

The answer is 3 but I got
34 over 14

Please could someone show me their working out?

6(v-3) = 5(4-v)+4-3v
6v-18=20-5v+4-3v
6v-18=24-8v
6v+8v=24+18
14v=42
v=3

Hope this helps :smile:

Well I did
6v-18= 20-5v+4-3v
Then +18 and +8v
14v= 34
Then divide both sides by 14
Expand it to get:
6v-18=20-5v+4-3v

Simplify and collect all the like terms up and move all the v values to one side and the number values to the other to get:
14v=42

Simplify once again and get:
v=3!

6(v-3) = 5(4-v)+4-3v
6v-18=20-5v+4-3v
6v-18=24-8v
6v+8v=24+18
14v=42
v=3

Hope this helps :smile:

Oh thank you very much!
I understand now :smile:

you should add 8v to both sides not only oneside

I did add to both sides
I simplified wrong and got 16 instead of 24!
Thanks anyway

V=3 not 3! ( which is 6)
