Haven't heard from boyfriend

My boyfriend went to uni about a week and a half ago, and since then I've barely heard from him. He only texts if I text first, and we've have about three 5 minute phonecalls. I've not heard from him now since saturday, despite me getting in touch since. I don't want to bombard him too much, but at the same time I'm worried that if I don't contact him, I just wont hear from him. Should I be worried, or could he still be settling in? It's beginning to feel like he's just too busy/can't be bothered.

:frown:

I'm sure the latter is not the case.

When i moved into my house after spending the summer with my fiancee i just wanted to get used to everything first. The last thing i wanted to do was to speak to her, start missing her and get homesick.

Perhaps he feels the same way. Ask him.

Thanks. I do want to ask him, but don't want it to come across as an accusing "why aren't you ringing me, you bastard"

No I do too, I understand he's settling in and everything (as I started uni last year and had to settle in and my bf the year before me) but it takes less than a minute to send a text just to say he's ok. I don't think it's too much to ask it's not even real attention but 3/4 days when he's far away with a bunch of people you don't know (and probably drinking a lot as people often do at the start of uni) it may be insane but you do start to worry

In a really strange way, that's kind of reassured me that I'm not just sounding stupidly clingy and paranoid!

I agree with you too.

Sure, don't bombard him with calls and messages. But I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the occasional text convo or phone call, initiated by him! Yes he is busy but surely he'd have time to send a thoughtful text or something. OP, before he went did he text you a lot? If he isn't the chatty type then maybe he is just acting the way he usually does!

Maybe just leave things as they are for another week or so and see if things change. If not, ask him how busy he has been etc..?

I don't think that you're being clingy expecting some contact, he is your bf, after all. I would be rather worried myself if my bf had communicated with me that little, and only when prompted.

No i do too. i didnt speak to my better half for the first two days ( i was away and he had just left after spending the weekend with me) however since then he rings me in between lectures and i have seen him twice in the last week.

Maybe ring him and just ask like what hes up to as hes seemed quite lately or something.

leave him for awhile - hes probably just settling in to a new routine
