Why you asking?

What would be the consequences for a minor, after taking a nude photo and sending it to someone over 18 online? Would there be leniency in terms of consequences?
It is illegal to possess nude photos of anyone under 18 unless you are married to them (16 or over) under the sexual offences act 2003. if you received one, delete any copy as well as the copy from your chat history.

I was in a similar situation to you earlier this year, but was slightly younger than you and the boy was the same age. Depending on your age, which you haven't given, I think you would be okay - but if it was of serious nature, such as doing a sexual act, then I think you would be put on the sexual offender's list.

Hope this helps  Everything will be okay I promise! (Don't worry about your parents - they will come to terms with it.)

If the police found out, you'd both be guilty of making child pornography and distributing child pornography, both of which would put you on the Sex Offenders register. It has nothing to do with how old you are, making and distributing these pictures encourages whoever you send them to do the same, then the same with whoever they may send them to (who may be over 18 and may entice other under 18s to do as you've done), etc.

The person receiving it is over 18, and are in possession of an illegal indecent photo of a minor. That is a crime no matter what. get your friend to delete the pic, any copies and the chat message that contains the picture
Nothing, i think legally, would happen to the minor who sent the photo

bless you, this helped a lot. I'm just deeply stressed as I keep thinking the police are going to show up at my house. Not nice!

The minor is guilty of making child pornography, and if they send it to anyone that's distribution of child pornography, which is then a second offence. It doesn't matter how old you are, you are still making and distributing a pornographic image of a child (even if it's yourself), which then encourages others to do the same (and encourages people over 18 to encourage other people under 18 to do the same), it never ends.

Would deleting the chat affect it anyway? As the other person would still have the messages

Deleting the chat doesn't stop the other person having the image, as they may have screenshotted it or saved it to their camera roll. You don't know who or how many other people the original recipient has sent it to, also potentially making them guilty of distributing child pornography.

The other persons chat would show them sending it, and therefore they would be done for production and distribution (as the member above said), but if your friend deletes that particular message from their phone/laptop/whatever, then, if an investigation should occur, they would not be possessing it. Get them to send a message to the sender saying that it is illegal for them to possess the photo and have deleted it from their device.
If the police found out they could theoretically choose to prosecute you for possession and distribution of child pornography. Which would end up with you on the Sex Offenders Register.

[I was threatened with this when I was 14. Won't go into details but my mum got the police involved when she found out I'd met up with an older guy. They did decide not to prosecute me as it would ruin my life - I guess it helped that I was being seen as a grooming victim! - but they did also destroy my laptop, GCSE coursework included]

Why did they destroy everything? They should only have had the legal right to destroy the chats and pictures?

The Police already found out about mine. And I'm not on it. It depends on the circumstances. How on earth did I distribute it? You don't know my story nor my background.
