Uni dilemma - dropping out and moving abroad

My parents decided to move to NZ permanently at the same time I was due to start uni. I had to decide whether to go with them or to stay here and go with flow, applying to UK universities like my friends. I got AAA at A Level, I ended up on a science course at a good UK uni, but I didn't really know what I wanted to do career wise. It was definitely about what people expected of me.

First year at uni was life changing, really depressing at first but adjusted, put on some much needed weight, started going out, met someone etc. Then after the uni year, went to see parents in new house, country etc. I got a full time job in a preschool over the summer. I've always really loved being with kids, I had so much fun, got a great reference from my boss.

Now I'm back in the UK, in my second year. My motivation to continue with the science course is low and I'm missing family. I'm considering dropping out and applying for teaching in NZ (a course for kids aged 0-8). (Their school year starts in Feb 2008, I have to apply by 10 Dec 2007, it's alot faster there).

I want to have a job that I'm passionate about, but I know my parents would be worried about my future earnings and 'wasting my academic ability'.

Advise please?
Hmm...How long is your course and how old are you? If you're still young and you're doing well on the course, why not stick it out for two more years and then move to NZ. It'll be a great back-up, if nothing else.
I do a course I dislike and am far more interested in my job/extra-curricular stuff, but I'm sticking with it because I know it'll be a beneficial thing to have...just in case...
If you had a relatively good time in your first year you can do so again.

In my opinion: You have to do what makes you happy- only you can make this decision!
exact same situation as me, except i havnt started uni yet, (Last year of college) and i'm really worried, don't know what to do...my parents say it is easily more beneficial for me, but i'd be leaving my gf, my friends and my home, any advice for me?

Me again...It's a 4 year course, I really don't think I can stick it out. Would be expensive time too. I'm 19 btw.
