unfairly marked coursework?

i think my psychology A2 coursework was unfairly marked  i only got 43 out of 90 (grade E) but for the examination modules got C's and B's and an A in one of them. My AS coursework was marked by a different teacher (i think) and got a B. however i know the teacher hates me coz im really quiet and missed quite a few lessons but i worked damn hard on the project using help frm the AQA site and books etc. i KNOW it was better than an E lol i was expecting a B

hes either a really tight marker or done it becoz he hates me, he predicted me an E for psy coz he thought i was crap but i ended up with a C overall.

thing is i want to do psychology at uni but im having second thoughts coz im worried all psy teachers will be like him

This happend to my friends sociology coursework. Everyone in her year got marked down a rediculously large amount during moderation by the exam board. The school are suspicious and are getting the whole lot re-marked. My friend got a D when it was originally an A and she had her tutor who is an examiner read it over and she said it was A grade standard. I don't know why this would happen but I would suggest you get it re-marked and don't be disheartend

yea trouble is it wont make much difference to my overall grade (unless i get 85/90) plus i dont wanna make a fuss. i guess i just posted this to get out my anger at him, its more the principle of the thing

Yeah, exam boards like to mark down coursework for some reason, espcially when teachers mark high - I think it's a universal thing ^_^.

I was a little shocked to be honest by how many marks my English coursework and others went down by the examiners. I went from a high A to a high B.

My history coursework went down from an A (just estimated, cause OCR are stupid) to a C. I knew it was crap and that my teacher was being generous, but I didn't expect it to go down that much. Luckily my synoptic pulled the grade up up, my teacher said he would have had it remarked otherwise.

A friend of my parents is an examiner and team-leader for AQA (GCSE Technology, but the principles of teacher assessed coursework stand)
He had to fail an entire entry for a school last year. The teachers simply hadn't set the right coursework, and the candidates had all been made to work together rather than individually. The teachers when questioned could not identify any 1 candidates work, there were simply 100 identical "things" presented for examination. Rather than make them themselves, they had been instructed to work on an assembly line style system, which is most definitely not allowed by AQA, as you can't use any one piece of work and claim it to be your own.

If the teachers get it wrong, then bad things happen. The exam boards hands are tied in many cases.

Last year my human biology lecturer gave marks to readily so apparently the exam board (AQA) reduce everyone's coursework by 40%.

This year, when I started a/s human biology she was really harsh with the marking, plus another teacher had to do double marking and she would not tell us what grade we had on the coursework.
my computing teacher didnt even send off my coursework, just his mark, and he hated me so i failed and cant do anything about it, yet got full marks on all examinations bar one, so only ended up with a B

Check this out. In my politics CW i got 48/90 yet in my June Exam i got 120/120 and 90/90. At AS level i also got 120/120, 90/90 and 87/90. I also thought that my coursework which was based on federal views within the EU was harshly marked. I was gutted when i found out.

I friend of mine went down from a B to an E on coursework after moderation, but to get it remoderated, it costs a whopping £144. As he got into his uni anyway, he quickly decided against it, but if someone was borderline and just missed out on a grade which meant they missed their first choice, it's a lot of money to pay (although I think you get some of it back if the exam board finds the original marking ws wrong and changes it). It's so much more expensive than remarking for exams, which is annoying though expected as it takes so much longer to moderate.

Not all Psych teachers are the same! There are ten or so at my college and they're different.
Well on the contrast, my I.C.T. teacher marked my coursework at 71/120 UMS points meaining that I got a D. However, when I looked at the grade which I recieved for my coursework on thursday, the mark had been pushed up to 88/120 UMS points meaning that I got a middle B grade which is crazy!

Although I'm bloody proud of that result, I have to ask how the mark changed so drastically from the original mark given by my teacher who claims to have never been wrong when it comes to marking coursework

one of my AS music modules consisted of 2 compositions - i did these and sent them off and got 65 out of 90 - my teacher said they should have got marked and that i should re-submit this module at A2. I printed the compositions off again without changing them at all, just got my results back - got 90 out of 90!!! this casts so much doubt on the whole marking system for music, i guess its kinda subjective but still! 25 marks, eep!
