Toe-pain!

Hallo chaps, this is probably going to sound a bit daft but... my toe hurts. Not just in general, but around the nail. It doesn't look mank, but just hurts when I touch it (especially on the nail). Does anyone have any idea what this may be? I haven't hit it on anything recently, by the way.

have a look round the sides of your toe-nail it might be an ingrown nail which doesn't always look gross at a quick glance

Erp, I can't actually really see the edge of the nail

If you can't see the sides it could be ingrown! Really really painful! Does your toe swell up a bit around the sides of the nail? Just go to your doctors. I had an operation to get mine sorted out but sometimes they can sort of cut it for you to make it more comfortable.

Oh :frown: I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started poking my toe and was still doing my essay now! I might go and get the Dr. to have a look at it, it's hurt for a while now.

Ingrown toenails are evil. They start off just hurting a little bit when you poke it and it gets worse and worse. Don't do what I did and fix it with a pen knife. Lots of pain.

But yes, phone up the doctors. Some GP surgey's will actually remove a portion of the nail for you, if it is that bad. Oh, and always cut your toenails square on, that apparently helps to stop it happening again
