Do you want to do a course down there then? Yeh people do go between Uni Park and SB quite a bit, as there is a free hopper bus, so...

Yeah, if I did a course there I'd be at SB. How long does it take by bus from SB?

Well, seeing's as I am only based on both the Jubilee and UP campus', I really do not know. I believe that it is either 20 or 30mins on the hopper bus. But I also believe that those who study there, live, socialise and study there, so there would not really be much to come over to UP for, unless you needed uni admin offices or alternatively to socialise outside of SB.

Oh, okay. Are there coffee shops etc on the SB campus?

And what about societies and stuff? Would they most likely be based at Jubilee/UP?
Reply 5
Societies would be mainly based on UP yeh; I hadn't thought about that. The bus is however free. I really don't know what is down there, but I should imagine so.

Okay, thanks. At least the bus is free lol.
I went there by mistake once (took the wrong hopper)... never again.

I kid, I kid.
The bus takes about 30 mins.. and the last one back to SB is about 11.30ish i think during term time, so society events shouldnt be much of a problem. It is far from the city, and going out clubbing might be quite a long and expensive event, if thats your kind of thing.. It is possible to request UP accommodation i think?

I wasnt on SB in my first year, although i spend all my time there now. Its a really nice place with a really tight and active community. It has a (rather pricey) coffee shop and Londis aswell as the restaurant.. but theres always Tesco home delivery service!

As far as i know, most people studying on SB have a car. So chances are you'll have mates who are willing to give you lifts for a bit of cash. Its not the most convinent of places but its alot quieter, safer and friendlier than any other campus.

buses can be a pain though.. countless times ive missed the bus (or it hasnt turned up) and had to wait an hour and a half for the next.

I lived on SB for my first year as most first year biosciences do. It's definitely a nice place to spend your first year as everyone gets to know everyone else. Probable was a bit harder for me as I didn't have a car so had to wait for other people with cars to go shopping with.

Going out was a bit of a hassle but if you get the hopper bus down to main campus and a taxi back with a few friends then its not so expensive. We also went out in loughborough quite a bit just because it was closer (but definitely not as good as nottingham on the club font).

Lecture halls are 2 minits walk from halls so you can literally fall out of bed onto them.
I had one lecture a week at main campus but i think that was because i'm doing microbiology. Apart from micro i think environmental bio had a few on main campus but rest the courses were all SB based so there wasn't much need to really visit UP.

I also joined the jujitsu club at main campus so i had to get there twice a week. I can't say i didn't get a little annoyed at the waiting or buses but there was nothing i could do about that and they do run pretty regularly.

All in all you cant beat the social aspect of SB as you end up getting to know the majority of the people on campus on some level. Travelling to notts proper is a bit of a hassle but if you have a good set of friends then you don't really need to.

Anything else just ask.

Thanks a lot

I wish it was a little nearer to the main campus, but ah well. I won't have a car as well...
What course are you looking at doing city_chic?

At Notts, veterinary medicine.
Reply 13
should be easier for you then because i know for a fact that all vet med lectures are on SB and that you get taken to outside farms by coach

Oh, that's good then

city_chic im doin vet med at nottingham next year. u shud go up to the campus its really nice. The vet buildin is amazin and kicks all the other vet schools asses! There is new accomodation which is also FAB! Theres a pub on campus and a shop n cafe and a bank (i think). Ive also heard that "club nights" are run twice a week were a coach is organised for a night out in notts (i could be wrong.but hopefully not!) Im from liverpool so am used to being in the city which i love, but doin the vet med course is goin to be alot ov work so mayb bein on the quieter campus is a better idea...the city is still in easy reach n a bus ride for alf an hour isnt 2 bad specially wen ur with ur friends! I really cant wait 2 go! Get down to an open day and c 4 urself..its a lovely campus!

oo n ive heard ther buildin a sports centre on the SB campus? is this true or am i just dreamin?!!! If it is what facilities will it have?
