i was wondering if someone could help me the with a past paper question :
(a) Explain why it is often the case that simple salts of drugs have different aqueous solubility compared to the free acid or base forms.
(b) Give one disadvantage that may result from using a salt form of a drug.
for part a im thinking its due to salt forms being easier to solvate
and for b is it cuz of the salt form being present as ions so it can pass lipid barrier
any help will be appreciated
b) surely ionic substances don't cross the lipid barrier
