The AQA A Level specification says we need to know:

'Economic, ethical and environmental advantages for
society and for industry of developing chemical processes with a high atom economy'

I have the economic and environmental advantages being:
- Less waste produced = more environmentally friendly
- More efficient use of raw materials = more sustainable = more profit

What is a possible ethical advantage in case a question on it comes up?

If chemical companies can find easier and cheaper ways of mass producing medicines and other useful chemicals, this means the products can be sold for lower prices and therefore be made available to more people
