The Student Room Group

Flat outcast

I feel like the outcast in my flat at uni. I know, I need to get over myself. Its probably a problem of my own making, I stay in my room a lot.

The accommodation I am in is the furthest from campus of all the uni-owned propertys. 25 mins away on bus. Part of me thinks it would be better off if I applied to transfer somewhere else, get a fresh start

Its not too bad here..... Tell me if I should move or not

I wouldn't have thought it's worth the hassle unless you're actually having problems with people you're living with.

I don't hate them. Just I'm having difficulty "bonding" with them, so to speak

The thing is, people will have formed "groups" in every other hall, so you might have the same problems. It's perfectly normal not to be friends with people in halls, I wasn't, and still had a great first year - met loads of people through other means.

True. I'm in self-catered so I see them all the time
Spend more time in the places you share with the rest of your flat-mates, and don't worry if you don't get on with them, there are loads of people on your course that you see just as much, and can be mates with.

Plus, it's early days yet

What makes you think it'll be a fresh start if you go somewhere else?

I won't know the people. I can give it another go at not being an outcast
Get out of your room and go socialise with them. GoGoGo!
