Gum stuck in throat

I accidently swallowed some gum earlier and it felt like it was stuck in my throat. I had a drink and eat some food so it should have moved by now right? But I read on the internet (yes, not the best place for advice, despite me asking this here) and someone said it could be because the passage way was irritated by the gum or (and this next bit was from an apparent doctor, who helps a lot on Yahoo! Anwers) it could be because the gum scratched the throat on the way down, and it'll get better with time. So, without actually checking my ****, how do I know if the gum is still there, and, if it is, how do I get rid of it? Drink plenty of cold water?

Okay, drank plenty of cold water, but it did absolutely nothing, coughed and coughed and coughed but brought up nothing except spit (and the feeling of wanting to be sick through all the coughing). Have I therefore already swallowed the gum and just irritated the throat more?

Almost certainly, I cannot see how gum would physically stick in your throat and not occlude it - not to mention that it'd have to be pretty bloody big to start with.

You have almost certainly scratched or irritated some part of the pharynx which is now slightly inflamed and feels like there's something there.

So me coughing is doing nothing but making it worse? When I swallow it does feel like there is something stuck in my throat, but if I've eat food since and swallowed it fine then it's just irritated now? Great, how long will the irritation last for?
Boring thread!! I wasn't looking properly and mistook the 'G' for a 'C'!

ROFL.

Who knows how long the irritation will last, probably not long, try Strepsils or sumimt.

I have the same problem. I was chewing a gum and I felt it started disolving in my mouth and suddenly I swallowed it accidentally, but it feels like it's stuck in my throat, especially when I swallow. I'm a bit worried. Hate this unknown feeling. Wish I knew if it's really stuck there or it irritated my throat...
