Theyre multiple choice, ~ 1 hour in duration and quite straightforward. Obviously theyre based on the two weeks of material youve had between them. There are 11 questions, 3 marks for a correct answer, 1 mark for "don't know" and 0 marks for an incorrect answer. If your score is k out of 33, then your actual score becomes k-8 (since the average mark you will get if you guess every answer will be 8).

so wat are the questions based on - proof by induction??
Reply 3
Afaik, yes.
The venerable Mr. Moody said that he'd write the test tonight for us; and that he'd try to minimize the amount of induction in it, because it's be predominantly all that in previous years.
Which is a shame, because in the past 2 weeks I've learnt exactly squat all in foundations. And with the fresher's ball tonight, don't exactly have time to revise.

how do they test proof by induction in a multiple choice exam??

(c) Any non-empty subset of N\mathbb{N} has a smallest member.
(d)Any non-empty subset of Z\mathbb{Z} has a least element.

How hard are the tests? Surely the first one [in a few hours :-0] won't be FIENDISHLY difficult?

I'm have no idea what tests you are on about, but even if they will be difficult, it's better to revise and know what you have to know before you get tested anyway, to give you the best possible chance.

Neh, they're not that important anyway, its 15% for 5, 3% one towards Foundations grade, and Foundations is 12 CATS, out of minimal 120 you will do in first year, hence (if I understand correctly) it's just 0,3 % towards your first year grade, which is only 10% towards your entire degree, so it is 0,03% of your final mark.
(Just trying to cheer myself up, as I am pretty sure, that I am not gonna do well on this one :p: )

that makes me feel so much better now lol phew!

Welll... I could have done better. I'm quite certain that the revision sheets were of no use whatsoever; but it could have been worse too.
12/25! ooh yeah. WEEKEND TIME.

I think its a bit early to be making predictions on your final degree class

Well done though  I screwed up two questions which I should have got but Im not too bothered since its worth so little.
