I loved it... I don't know about advantages.... do you mean with regards to applying as a graduate?
I had classes with zoology, biology, marine bio, animal science and animal care students and I did find that the Equine students had more practical experience (we had riding lessons as part of the course and practical study components). The others did not, purely theory with some practical in later years.
The fact that I specialise in horses has been a bit of a difficulty with interviews as vet uni's favor farm animals (sheep farming especially) and small animal practice.
I had a Cambridge interview on Monday and the questions I was asked seemed almost generic for every applicant. The interviewers knew nothing about me personally... looked puzzled when I spoke about my equine degree... and focused on lambing, foot and mouth and canine vaccinations.
I was prepared, but it would have been nice to have been asked about my work experience with horses or elephants... or at least something equine related.
Anyway... I can't complain too much... bias is to be found in the UK... I can't say that I didn't expect it.
Yeah I meant as regards as appying as a graduate, like is it better to have an equine science degree or a biology degree.
Which college was your cambridge interview? I loved Magdalene it was sooo good and the interviewers were great they really put me at ease. My first interview started with 'We're going to ask you questions you probably won't know the answer too...' and they asked me loads of questions on my personal statement... even about my non-vet charity work. The first interview with the Director of Vet Med for Magd was also really good-very farm and diseased based!!! How was your interview?
Well done walkjj! has anyone else got offers from RVC yet? Also when do the offers generally appear on UCAS-is it usually in the morning (updated overnight) or can it be randomly throughout the day? Thanks x x x x

I had my interview on the same day as you grazia, haven't heard anything yet...but my fingers are crossed and I really really really hope I get an offer!!!!

I'm in the same boat, suspect it means i'm going to be rejected, I did try asking notts, but just got a generic your application is been considered type reply that told me very little. Still id rather be waiting to hear than rejected!!!
hmm. Are you applying to the 6yr course? I am as I am completing my National Diploma in animal management (BTEC) and thats the only course who would take me on. I really want an interview.
Did you phone up and ask? I thought about doing that today but I didnt as I decided that they must get so many calls asking about their application. I think we may have to wait it out.
hey, i kno this is kinda off from your topic, but you all got interviews, so im guessing ur the people to ask. does anybody know if getting 3A*s, 7As and,1B at GCSE would be good enough to get me into vet med? but my 1B is in physics and most of the unversities say you need A*s/As in all sciences
thank you, i was really worried i really wanna b a vet and didnt think i was gonna get the gcse results to be able to do it and wen i gt them back in the summer, i dnt think i ave ever bin so relieved in my life. then i think i finally realised how competitive it was!
p.s. Nay and Rachel, yes Anna Hammond is married to Richard Hammond. I asked Dan, Derrick, Louise, George and co. at Vet Revue and they looked at me like I live under a rock, hahahaha!
