Ah ****, it can't be THAT bad living in Mill Hall! There's no need to kill yourself about it!

...On a serious note, now I'm feeling a little creeped out. It must've been from the 3rd floor...where I am....*hides*
I remember my psychology teacher telling us that when he was in uni they had to put bars on windows because of the amount of people jumping out :s-smilie: Makes uni sound very encouraging lol

I am wondering which room that person was living in. :s-smilie:

Apparently, the reason we have locks on the windows is because someone jumped out last year. :frown:

Why the **** did you have to post that on here?

I don't go to Brunel or anything, but I saw this thread on the recent activity list.

Anyway, I should probably point out that suicides in halls of residence are far more common than gets out. My sister was at an (admittedly large) hall in Edinburgh Uni and in one year at least three people did themselves in.

Someone in my hall in first year also did, admittedly at home, and allegedly over some relationship issue. I'd never have heard about it other than my friend got his room.

Universities try to keep it all rather quiet, for obvious reasons.

Can't remember the name, it was over a decade ago unfortunately. Was one of the ones at Pollock Halls. I might be confusing things, but I think it might have been demolished a few years ago.

I don't think it's a topic suited to a forum like this. Especially where there might well be people connected with the incident.

Unfortunately, students often try to, and do, take their lives. It's something everyone at university should be aware of, students need to stick together and look out for each other. There should be discussion about it, but there's no need to be childish about it, it's not creepy or weird, it's just sad **** that happens. :frown:

Ditto...

Heard about a few suicides in Leicester Uni too, a couple from Mary Gee (which wasn't even supposed to be used for accomodation this year) and some other random blocks in the past few years.

Unfortunately University is a large concentration of people in suicide risk list - late teens and early twenties, males in particular.
