the majority are voting for labour. They always come top in TSR polls.

TSR isn't a very good representation of the majority of young people. It will self select for students who are more likely to do A-Levels and go to university. Then even then how many of them join a student forum? We are loosers

You can tell the progressives won because the reactionaries have to use our progressive language to get what they want. Paint us as the real racists and sexists when it lets them attack minorities and so on. Sorry, but you have lost

Because young people aren't as affected by fear politics, they haven't had hope and compassion drummed out of them by reality. Also, because we're saturated in education - most young people are or recently were students - and the facts show that socialism leads to stronger economies and happier populations. We see ideologies for what they are, not the stigmas they carry (ie: ah that's communist and communism is inherently BAD)

How on earth does socialism contribute to a better economy. Yes, there may be more money in the state, but individual wealth plays a large part in consumerist spending thus boosting the economy far more.

Show me one successful socialist state compared to a right/centrist capitalist state.

And what does this mean for the future of politics?

Absolutely nothing, because this has always been the case and yet the right is still pretty healthy.

Cuba and North Korea are both socialist and have free university tuition, free healthcare and a benefits system that doesn't punish and sanction people.
Cuba has the best Heath service in the Americas and it's free unlike in the US where people have had to sell their homes if they break their leg or need their appendix removed.
Also Cuba has the lowest crime rate in the Caribbean with none of the drugs problems and gangs seen in other carribean countries.
North Korea is very clean and virtually crime free because people are brought up to respect each other and they live like one big family. They respect public property because it's everyone's property.
I think young people are more progressive and even if not left wing are more open to significant change:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/over-half-of-young-people-in-ireland-would-join-a-mass-uprising-against-the-government-a7703141.html

Older people are by comparison more invested in the current political paradigm, not only do they have mortgages that they feel.need protecting people are also naturally averse to change.

I would like to see how this assumption splits down across socio-economic status.

Where on earth did you learn that "the facts" show socialism leads to stronger economies?

North Korea also execute whole families for watching media from non-communist countries. Their streets are clean because they're empty, 70% of them died in the famine... etc etc Strong respect and community cohesion can be seen in Japan which is a fairly capitalist country; it's just a cultural thing.

Not to tight on Cuban history, most of their troubles seem to be imposed on them rather than self made though. Probably a better example!

They just follow other people without thinking for themselves.
Im a "young person" and in no way left wing. You couldn't pay me a £1 billion to ever even consider voting Labour

Most people my age are just a bunch of sheep who follow the majority or whats considered "fashionable" to be.

There has been a lot of speculation about whole families been sent to gulags but how do we know that's true? It's like weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the factories actually turned out to be baby biscuit factories and no WMDs were ever found. If the west ever invaded North Korea it would be quite embarrassing if they arrived at what they thought was a concentration camp only to discover families who were playing volley ball and it was actually a holiday camp they had just bombed.

There has been no speculation. There have been witnesses who have defected.

For the record, I'm pretty hard left, so I have done my research (obviously as best as you can "outside the wall"). I'm probably on your side. But I won't tolerate dictatorships masquerading as "communism"

Don't engage Ambitious, they're a serial moron / troll who ignores any attempt to rationalise discussion.

You forgot the brainwashing by marxist teachers.
Not all young people are left wing. You shouldn't make such sweeping judgements.

North Korea's streets are clean because there's no litter to drop. Everyone's out in the fields eating grass to survive.

That is true - far too many of the them.

You are so deluded it's unbelievable and especially on North Korea. I don't see how you can defend and promote a country's way of life when it's citizens: aren't not allowed to leave, aren't allowed to travel within the country itself really, aren't allowed a car and if they even look at a photo of one of the Kim family in the wrong way, they're executed.

Then again, socialists tend to like dictatorships and oppression.

The rubbish kids these day should are being taught makes me weep for the future.
