Help! Im stuck

When a few drops of acidified potassium manganate(VII) solution is added to Fe2+, why the colour changes from purples to colourless? :smile:
The manganate(VII) ions oxidise iron(II) to iron(III) ions

And the manganate(VII) gets reduced to Mn2+
the Mn 2+ is colourless

Overall equation
MnO4(-) + 5 Fe(2+) + 8H+ --> Mn(2+) + 5 Fe(3+) + 4H2O
hope that helps
