Is my thinking illogic/unreasonable here?

Basically I want to do a degree in psychology (an online one at home might I add). The thing is Ive has something similar to anxiety/depression for the past 3 years and when I was 17 I blacked out at school in a psychology lesson (dunno why i went to the doctors etc but its happened 7 times in my life). Anyway ever since then Ive felt mentally unwell and been scared all the time im going to get help but im wondering will studying psychology make me worse? My friend said that studying it screwed him up with depression lol but is this possible? I mean I like psychology but if it will make me worse.. what do you think? Should I so a happier degree like geology or sports? I really think that psychology would suit my interests, personality and skills better though.

Do I sound like a nutter?

i suppose i do see why you think its possible it would do this. it could bring up memorys of feelings etc. but you should follow your heart and do it if its what you really what you want to do.
its only an outside chance that it will make you feel bad and you can always change

I think the opposite. I've had a similar relationship with depression/anxiety/counseling whatever and I think it will help with psychology. If you can understand why we get to the point of being depressed, schizophrenic, anorexic or whatever issue then surely it's easier to seek help or at least see why you're feeling how you are. My psychology teacher and I were discussing the other day how people who follow the psychology route usually have personal reasons for doing so. I guess it depends on what you intend to do after University as well, but if you love the subject then stick with it!

Psychology A Level didn't help the fact that I'm a mental bag of nerves, but nor did it make it any worse.
