Is my thinking illogic or unreasonable here?

Basically I want to do a degree in psychology (an online one at home might I add). The thing is Ive has something similar to anxiety/depression for the past 3 years and when I was 17 I blacked out at school in a psychology lesson (don't know why I just got scared and felt weird ass of a sudden i went to the doctors etc but its happened 7 times in my life). Anyway ever since then Ive felt mentally unwell and been scared all the time im going to get help but im wondering will studying psychology make me worse? My friend said that studying it screwed him up with depression lol but is this possible? I mean I like psychology but if it will make me worse.. what do you think? Should I so a happier degree like geology or sports? I really think that psychology would suit my interests, personality and skills better though.

Do I sound like a nutter?

Consulting a doctor or expert would be the best option.

All we can give you is our opinions which won't help you if you start suffering again.

Anything else you find interesting?

Sports or history really, but I waanted to leave the psychologist career option open and it seems stupid to blame choice of study on well being, im just confused.

I wish you the very best of luck with delivering counselling and psychotherapy via teleconference.

You don't sound like a nutter.

Many people subconciously diagnose themselves with illnesses, just because they've learnt about them in too much depth.
So you taking psychology, your learning about mental behaviours yadayadayda. Your leaning closer to a better understanding of depression, and your picking up on small things in your life...
So you'll be thinking. "aha! That's just like such and such... MUST mean i've got this."
or along those lines.
There's tons of examples like this.

If you think you won't be able to cope, and you do really feel it won't make you any better, try changing course. :frown:

Good luck in whatever you decide to do. :]
