I'd say that most high-earners would have to express a lot of commitment to the job and this may mean working out of hours.

Plus in this day and age I don't really think that many places have such fixed hours.

I'm inclined to suggest bank work off the top of my head.

Most jobs that are professionally accredited seem to pay well. e.g Law, (Chartered) Accountancy, Medicine etc

As for the "9-5", I think most "professional" jobs require longer working hours to get things done anyway. UK workers apparently have the longest working hours in Europe.
8.30-6 is the new 9-5. You'll find barely any grad schemes where people consistently work 9-5.

I think the contract says that, but your like meant to do hours of 8.30 - 6/7.
