Don't get me wrong I've got nothing against people who drink or anything I just wondered if there was anyone who can't/doesn't drink going to University of Nottingham this year so I feel less alone (I can't drink). I'm worried that it'll be hard to connect to people and don't want to be alone.
Ill be studying Economics and Econometrics. I do drink but very infrequently, usually special occasions. I am very shy around new people though so I have no clue what to expect!
Hiya, I also an not a drinking and partying type person. Although I'm doing Mental Health Nursing do I doubt I'll get much spare time anyways. I'll be at Raleigh Park, Chatterley Court if you wanted to know
Student union looks like it has a few societies that you could look at Give that a shot, sure they might have drinky socials but aside from that it a good way to meet people over common interests.
I didn't go to University of Nottingham specifically but I shared all the same worries as you when starting uni. A lot of the socialisation on my course revolved around nights out and drinking which I felt made me feel a bit left out HOWEVER, there are many other ways to get to know people. If you're living in catered halls you can get chatting in the canteen, library, washing facilities etc. / if self-catered you'll get to know the people you share your kitchen with fairly quickly!
Additionally, or if you're living at home and commuting/living alone, socialise with people on your course during lecture times and seminars, tutorials etc and in your extra time perhaps join some societies? They're a great way to get to meet new people and as a fellow introvert myself - it's extremely helpful to meet with a sort of 'topic' in mind to get the ball rolling.
Wishing you the best of luck! Everyone will be nervous and I'm sure many will be worrying about the same things You're not alone!

ah so interesting! I'm hoping to apply to BSc Physiotherapy next year. Would love to hear of your application process with the Health Sciences department??

Hi, that's great! Of course you can find more detailed information on the website but if you want a brief summary of my experience of the application process-
1. Sent my UCAS application in end of November 2016 2. In January 2017 got offered to attend interview 3. Attended interview in February (this was an MMI - multiple mini interview, which is also used for people applying to child nursing. Adult nursing interviews use a group interview but I am not sure which is used for physiotherapy) 4. received a conditional offer a couple of weeks later, which I later accepted
I also went for a visit day where we had a taster class presentation and got to look at some accommodation which was useful. All in all the process was straight forward and simple. I had my last A level exam today so now I just have to wait until results day when I can see if I've done enough to get in!

Hi, this sounds so similar to me except I'm doing just Economics, but no I agree meeting new people can be daunting.
I drink, smoke and can be persuaded to get in a jovial mood. However, i happen to dislike mobs...and teenagers. 😁 Older man decided to pick a book and try. Any engineers out there?

I know there is a kettle society where they pub crawl but to cafes instead. I will be living for it and I'm sure they have some other good ones.
