Surely not.

Only if you do a mickey mouse degree.

University is harder than A-Levels; however, at uni you only have the one main subject, and a lot more self-study time/less contact hours, so it COULD be easier, depending how much effort you put in, and how good you are at time-management etc. Depends how much you want to learn, and what grade you want to come out with. Nobody's pushing you at uni; if you want to just glide through and get a 2:2, you can.

Yes.

A lot of the work I had to do for my French A-level was considerably harder than the work in the first year of my course at uni -- at A-level there was 3 times as much oral French, there was more emphasis on the language, and we had to write all our exam essays in French (at uni, writing essays in French is optional, and there was no extra credit for doing so.)
Ultimately it depends on the degree, however.

Most degrees that are worthwhile are time consuming. Not just degrees, in fact, but anything in life.

I think it depends what youmean by harder.

We were always told that the step up to A Level from GCSE was a bigger step than the one from A Levels to university. So settling down to work and getting a routine and getting your head around the start of the work would be harder at A Level than at university.

That doesn't mean you aren't doing more difficult work, don't need to put more hours and effort in than ever before at uni.

It just means that uni work is less different to what you've done before than what A Level work was.

I wouldn't say Business was mickey mouse in the first place.

Economics and Management, maybe? Though you need A Level Maths for any Economics degree.

Business Studies is like doing an Investment Banking degree, it is pointless in terms of a decent career, and it is considered a mickey mouse degree.

So would you guys think that Criminology and Sociology is a mickey mouse degree? Or is Law a mickey mouse degree? Which one?

Reply 16

I agree with this, except for one module in my first semester of second year, just going into second semester of second year now.

Reply 17

definitely not! well for my degree at least.

the content is considerably harder and you have far less time to learn it.

I'd say Law definitely isn't.
I don't know about Criminology & Sociology.

I don't know as I'm not at uni yet but I suppose you are spreading yourself less over different things at uni, and should be studying something you really want to study at uni whereas at A level there is always one subject that you don't like as much and as much as you hate to say it you can't wait not to do it.
