what words/phrases usually come up?
Also , if i got a low a and low a* in both of my speaking and writing controlled assessment what do i need to get on average in each paper to get an a / a* ? Im doing higher tier btw

Uh....I think you should aim to get A* in both just to be safe. But if you find one test harder, like listening, you can get a low A*/ high A. And if you find reading easier then you should aim for a high A*. If you want an A, then you can get an A in both exams and you'll be fine. What's important is the UMS, not the mark.

Common phrases are normally things on the environment, just go over the vocabulary there:

I believe in your case it's 60 for an A and 68 for an A* but I'm not sure. Just go for full marks because that pretty much gurantees you an A*
