Accommodation facilities - What do I need to buy?

Hello,
What items do we need to purchase before moving into accommodation?
Are items such as cutlery and pots and pans and bedding supplied?
Kind Regards
Cherish

Hi,

As standard most things such as pots, pans, cutlery etc are NOT provided. Electronics such as microwaves, toasters and kettles are provided as standard. A bedding pack can be purchased as you complete your induction/registration for accommodation however, you should note that this takes £20 out of your deposit.

Here's a standard list, broken down into rooms that I found to be useful.
Bedroom area
- Bedding (Duvet, Pillows etc) - a mattress protector may be provided.
- A lamp/fairy lights (OPTIONAL - if you like to read in the dark)
- Cushions (because why not)
- Alarm clock - unless you use your phone

Desk
(you will have two shelves above your desk - under which is a reading light which is bright)
- A laptop or desktop computer
- A printer (very helpful - it costs money to print at the LRC's)
- Enough stationary to last you the year :P

Kitchen Space
- The usual > Pots, Pans, Cutlery, Plates, Bowls etc
- Any cleaning bits and bobs
- Mugs and Glasses (pretty essential for university)
- Food

Bathroom
- AT LEAST two towels
- Bathmat (because of the showers)
- Toiletries
(the usual bits and bobs from the bathroom)

If you google what to bring to uni, there are brilliant lists written by different people - my favorite is on Save The Student.

Hope this helps and welcome to the University of Hertfordshire!
