I'd say here. Make a shortlist of universities you're interested in and then have a peek in their subforums. That would be a good start, at least. I'm not sure of any sites with actual lists of all UK universities and courses - I've seen some that were either abandoned or in progress and they were quite useless. :/

Yes, this is a very good place to get ideas from actual students of each uni you're interested in.

Do you have an idea of what course(s) you'd like to be doing? Even if you don't, have you checked out the Push Guide? It's probably closest to the kind of thing you're looking for. You can select all sorts of things you're interested in. So if nightlife and student living interests you more than the academic quality of each uni, the Push Guide can be used to focus just on those wants.

I've been hunting around and drawn up a little list of sites:

www.push.co.uk - make a shortlist of universities by criteria such as course, location and how many members of the opposite sex there are, original idea, however site is a little slow

www.dooyoo.co.uk/universities/ - Quite a few university reviews, with the advantages and disadvantages highlighted

www.studential.com - Reviews for some unis, but sight is no longer properly maintained as owner now has a full time job, also has some ucas guides although there was a big personal statement frenzy when ucas realised lots of people copy and pasted personal statements from studential last year (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/education/article1485294.ece)

www.ciao.co.uk/Universities_2358_3 - Another Dooyoo, typical shopping comparison sight - don't they realise a uni isn't an off-the-shelf product?!

www.ratemyuni.co.uk - New review site, offering crates of beer to reviewers but hasn't yet got a significant amount of reviews to be a worthwhile resource.

www.universityfinder.co.uk - Another new review site, allowing video uploads although I question the helpfulness of watching students' drunken exploits in deciding on a university...

www.whatuni.com - Another review site, noticably dominated by female reviews, the reviews are broken up into little sections making for disjointed reading.

There actually seem to be quite a few sites, all offering pretty much the same thing! So I take back what I said earlier...

http://www.unofficial-guides.com/guides/ is great too! I used that one quite a lot when i was deciding on Unis.

But it's quite out of date now, so use with caution.

Okay, so I'm talking about books with this post, but it's worth it if you can stretch to it (or get down your library, of course!).

If you want some actual student lowdowns on how they feel at each uni, these two books are pretty good (links to Amazon):

The Virgin 2008 Alternative Guide to British Universities (For Students, By Students)
The Guardian University Guide 2008

There are others, but these are my current favourites. The Virgin one has various quotes and comments on how students feel, plus gives the lowdown on lots of social malarkey. The Guardian one has loads of info, including a lengthy student report for each institution, including stuff like the price of a pint/kebab, what it's like, how social life is, quality of housing, highlights, and more.

If you don't mind splashing a bit of cash (or asking someone else VERY nicely), I'd recommend them.
