Pyramids of Biomass

Hi guys, I don't really understand Pyrmaids of Biomass. My teacher said it will also be the larger on the top, then in the middle it will be less, and the top will be even less. Is this true? Thanks
larger on the bottom
The pyramid of biomass shows how much biomass moves on to each animal in a food chain. It is biggest at the bottom, and as each animal eats another it gets smaller as not all of an animals biomass is passed on to the next animal; one reason for this is than when an animal eats an animal it doesn't eat the bones, so doesn't consume all of that animal biomass.
Plus it loses energy via respiration and faeces.
