It's worse seeing a guy that is dumber than you - trust me

Reply 2

You could make it a problem.

Reply 3

Just because you think he is more intelligent than you doesn't mean he is; we tend to put those we love up on a pedestal

Even if he is I'm sure it won't be a problem. If he didn't love you how you are you wouldn't be together.

Try not to worry about it - you are 2 different people with different qualities.

Reply 4

It's only a problem if you make it one.

Reply 5

don't worry about it

Kick his scrawny nerd ass.

Like someone else said, it's only a problem if you make it one. Loads of people go out with people more or less intelligent with them. As long as you can hold a conversation and construct a sentence, it's no huge issue :p:

Reply 8

As long as you can hold a convo with the guy dont worry yourself.

My girlfriend is totally out of my league (looks and smarts) but we get on fine. If your really that bothered you could always do some light reading on his interests, but there is little point.

If it's not a problem now why would it become one? Unless you think he looks down on you and makes you feel dumb.. My ex would say I'm smarter and I her smarter - only she thought I looked at her asif she were a complete idiot sometimes (turns out it's just the face I make when I'm confused - now she's at Oxford). Another ex said I made her feel dumb sometimes, but that was just in jest!

Intelligence doesn't really matter in a relationship to me too much, it's just nice to not be looked down on.

*cleverer.

Actually, since clever is two syllables the phrase more clever is equally valid.

thanks for ure replies...i just feel stupid when i have to wait a while for his 'witty joke' to sink in and me to understand, or when i have to look up words he uses on msn. and he gets better grades at me in uni. grr (that pisses me off at results time) i hope with the non academic stuff it's just a matter of getting used to him, and eventually i'l catch up????

xxxx

and to be a geek, more clever and cleverer can both be used...(sorry to bring it up)

Remember, you can be clever at different things- I'm at Cambridge, and I frequently have to ask for jokes to be explained, or look up words, and I have no clue about history or politics and stuff, so it just goes to show that cos you're clever at one thing, you're not neccessarily clever at everything! I bet you're cleverer when it comes to different stuff than him. Don't make it into an issue and it won't be. Besides, there's pretty much always gonna be someone you know who gets better grades than you- in my case it's the majority of my friends!

Someone that uses convoluted words must have had to have looked them up themselves to know the meaning aswell

Don't be sorry. I was pwnd!

How much cleverer? Is it really a problem? My boyfriend is way cleverer than me. I feel a bit inadequate sometimes but I deal with it. I tend to feel inadequate around anyone with more talent than me, so that's anyone who can sight-read music for a start. I have gotten used to it.

I gotta say this is true. I'm 19, just out of like school and education and all that (doing an art course so...), I got mostly As and Bs and think I'm pretty smart in comparison to my b/f. He's 33 and when he did his GSCE's he got like Ds and whatever. But he has the social intelligence that I lack.

People are intelligent in different ways...and it's not even the most important thing between two people.

He probably finds it cute
