well the order of reactivity was;
magnesium
zinc
iron
copper

then the displacement;
zinc sulfate + magnesium > magnesium sulfate + zinc

then the colour changes seen;
i said the metal sulfate will turn from blue to colourless (as magnesium sulfate is formed)
then the colour of the metal will go from light grey to brown (copper is displaced)

Nah it went colourless as magnesium sulfate was formed

yeah thats what i said - the original reaction was between copper sulfate and magnesium
so the copper sulfate is blue
but it gets displaced by magnesium
so it turns colourless.
i didn't explain it but i said it went from blue to colourless.

I thought it went from light grey- normal mg to colourless?

Wdym double bond? Like adding 2 electrons
Or 4 in that overlap

4 in that overlap

light grey is the colour of the metal though, how can the metal turn colourless
cause it gave the colour of the metal sulfate and the colour of the metal

Fgs lost a mark

Two qs-":

Do you know if solids was 1st tick box?

+ what was the one line q in the hydrocarbon question?
Original post by Anand3761
And what was the answers to reactivity series ones ??

Magnesium zinc iron and copper also what did you get about nitrogen oxides I thought it was exo

Nah activation energy one
Unlucky
Yh right order

i said high activation energy; cause it requires high temperatures to form them.

you get 1, 1, and 1.5 for the moles
you cant have a H1.5
so you double them
so it gives
C2O2H3

That's where I made a mistake I didn't double number one and I got 3 on its own for hydrogen somehow lol!

i cant remember sorry
Has my ms been posted btw?
Did a few qs just now

Damn how much was that mark and for the water test how much were the marks? What did you get for alloys?

Damn Daniel that's annoying I lost like 26 marks what was your definition for equilibrium
I got brown solid colourless solution

ok so that was a tick box
it was worth 1 mark

the water test was worth 2 marks

the alloys;

the metal impurities have different sizes and distort the regular arrangement of metal ions

this makes the layers more difficult to slide over each other,

making it harder.

no impurities in pure titanium, so the layers can slide over reach other easily

so its softer.

in a closed system, where the rates of the forward and reverse reactions are the same.

Would that be a mark lost for not saying closed system
Hey, do you guys have the full unofficial marks scheme? I did the exam too and found it pretty good! I predict about 75 tbf, but a few people found it hard so it may be lowered to about 70! :smile:
