Hi,
I thought that large strata (when taking a stratified sampling) was a disadvantage because it is difficult to do a simple random sample on a large population but in my book it says that stratified sampling is used when the sample is large and when comparing stratified to simple random is says a similar thing:

Stratified typically require large sample size compared to srs due to lower variability within subgroups compared to entire population.

could you help me understand what this means please?
