    Hi,
I'm trying, and strugglng, to write a personal statement to study English Literature. I'm looking to apply to Oxbridge as well as the likes of York, Durham etc. I have got good AS Grades (4 a's) and I have a fair bit of extra-curricualr information to put in but I am struggling somewhat over the specifics of why I wish to choose English Literature. I enjoy reading and read frequently but, by no means have I read enough!

    Please help!

I'm doing English Lit, English Language (seperately), History and Law. I was thinking about:
Oxford, Manchester, York, Lancaster, Durham and one other (maybe Leeds).

My problem is, I don't want to say I have read loads and at interview be asked and embarrased because I haven't read enough, but I also don't want to say that I haven't read anything because a)its not true and b)why the hell apply for lit!

first have a look at www.studential.com and then have a look at
    http://oa.waveflex.com/
Both of these should be of some help.

Very true! I haven't read as much as I should have really. Most places don't interview for English though so it might be ok to stretch the truth a bit!

Good point. So scrap that bit of advice. All the places I'm thinking of applying to don't interview though

Why not focus on one specific area of interest in English, like Victorian poets or post-war literature and not only read the books but all the critiques etc.
