Tesco near the university of Manchester?

ok, it sounds like a silly question but I'm from Northern Ireland and was only at the open day at the university of manchester and then had to run to get my flight home. Didn't get to have a look around the city. Is there a tesco near the university of Manchester? Like, walking distance away? (hopefully near Whitworth Halls of Residence, where I am staying?

There is a Tesco Metro somewhere, I remember seeing it between Fallowfield and the campus. Not sure about any others.

There are loads of Tesco's around the University.

There is a Tesco Metro on the market street, the main shopping street in Manchester this is a huge store. There is also a Tesco Express on Upper Break Street next to UMIST.

There are others too. There is also sainsbury's in Fallowfield and one in Oxford Road near the Cornershouse Cinema.

The main Tesco in Manchester is probably the Parrs Wood one where Richard Maidley got arested for shop lifting. This a good 25 minutes on the 42/45/142 bus route though.

there are also a few asdas, where there are many bargains to be had. there is a huge one near the city of manchester stadium, one in hulme, and one about 25 minutes walk from the uni in longsight, though apparently this is a really dangerous gangster area, but no one told me this till april of my third year. i never saw any shady people there. i also belive longsight has a new branch of lidl, the dirt-cheap supermarket with stuff like 9p bottles of cola imported from lithuania.

like stan g says, the nearest one to whitworth park is a tesco express literally across the road, next to blockbuster video, but it's useless for fruit and veg, and a bit of a rip off compared to normal tescos.

a clubcard? make sure you go shopping with friends then, cause they'll probably be too disorganised to have one and you can get all the points. i was just sent lovely vouchers for £4 to spend on what i like, and 50 extra points when i buy fish or something like that. if you have a car, the tesco on upper brook street also has an esso petrol station which i think you can get points on (though i guess you probably won't be bringing a car from Northern Ireland). get yourself a nectar card as well incase you go to sainsbury's once in a while (the one in fallowfield is probably the nearest, best stocked supermarket if you want to do a large shop) and you also get points in debenhams and if you have a vodafone mobile. also get a boots advantage card for you toiletries. although boots is sometimes expensive, if you get the right stuff in the extra points offers you can save loads and buy yourself something nice like a fragrance or christmas presents.

what is a privalige card? is there a loyalty card that i don't know about? shocking.
