I would like to know if it is possible to study for Arabic as a GCSE whilst undertaking my degree at University, which is unrelated to languages. I am in my first year, averaging on a 1st. I am uncertain as to whether this would be a good idea because of the time invested in my degree and other commitments etc. My father's first language is Arabic and my listening and speaking is at an average level, although my learning has been dialect specific and he has offered to help. Of course, I could just do this informally but because my family speak Arabic I would like to communicate more effectively and for work opportunities.
So, would this be a good idea? Should I talk to my tutor at University about this? I know that they offer 'passport language' modules but for some reason this was the only language discontinued for years 2018/19, and more importantly, how would I do this, would I contact my local secondary school as an external candidate, which obviously I would pay the financial costs.
When can you expect yours?
