Anyone know how you would answer these essay questions?
"How accurate is it to say Laud's Arminian policies weakened the Church of England in the period 1633-40?"
"How successful were Laud's attempts to impose religious uniformity on the Church of England in the years 1633-40?"
There is hardly any evidence/stats in the textbook to use for these q's so any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the first one, I would do a point on religious uniformity strengthening the CofE: beauty of holiness, book of canons, catechism etc. A point on political influence strengthening the CofE: prerogative courts, Bishops power etc. However, puritan opposition weakened the CofE (Pym and Hampden, 5 knights etc), and provoked problems in Scotland (the prayer-book) which led to civil war...
Personally, I'd conclude that although his policies strengthened the hand of the CofE in the short term, the political opposition it provoked would be, ultimately, damaging.
