I'm not sure how to answer "please explain why you would like to be considered for an Engineering Apprenticeship"

What would I start off by saying?
    What should I not say?
    How long should it be?
Any tips on answering questions like this??

You could start off by mentioning some of your qualities/strengths: I am a self-motivated and fast learning student who has a strong interest in the Engineering industry. -then you could go on and explain the various skills which you have which could benefit you in the Apprenticeship.

    How long should it be?
It shouldn't be too long, but it shouldn't be as short as a sentence, maybe 3-5 lines should be sufficient.

Any tips on answering questions like this??
    * Think about what skills do you already possess that will be suitable for the Engineering Apprenticeship? I'm sure you would need Communication, Time management, maybe technical skills - explain where you've used these skills and how it will benefit you in the Apprenticeship
    * You also need to think what do you want to gain out of this Apprenticeship in the first place. Do you want to gain a qualification, obtain valuable work experience at a reputable company etc?
    * Mention your career goal, by doing so, the employer would get an idea that you already know what you aspire to do and you know what to do in order to achieve this goal.

    Hope this helped.
