MC'ing a school event..Any ideas?

Alright theres an event in school, in which theres going to be many dances and play, with dinner halfway in between. After the dinner I get on stage with a MC partner and we both announce and entertain the crowd. Keep in mind that most of the crowd will be of parents of students and little kids.

So me and my MC partner (female) have to: introduce ourselves, entertain and guide the audience, announce: a play, 4 dances, a raffle-drawing, and then eventually thank everyone who helped with the event (e.g. all participants, organisers, technicians, backstage crew, blah blah, etc.)

An example of an idea is after the play finishes, my partner will be pretending to cry while I rant about my unsatisfactory view of the play, cuz it was too predictable.

So I'm writing a script and I'm kinda lacking good ideas. Can you help me with some good ideas that could work? I'm looking for stuff which I can say to entertain the crowd. Any pranks? Any good jokes for such a crowd?

The main thing is to have a chemistry between you and your MC partner when you do it - and make everything appear spontaneous (e.g. dont appear to have a script!)

Any more ideas and suggestions? Our MC'ing ATM is quite boring, so I'm looking for some interesting ideas to do or some funny things to say!

lol No I won't be rapping! Apparently what im doing is called MC'ing.

The event is like a school multi-cultural show or a Diwali ball show. There are dances and a play! My job is to say stuff like, "And next up is the x dance, this dance originated in the y region of z country." Another example of what i have to do is like after the play, my partner is going to be like crying while i'll be like "oh that play wasnt worth MY money, the ending was too predictable." Hopefully that'll be funny.

But ATM its kinda boring, just like 2-3 jokes in it, so I'm looking for some ideas from you alot. I need to make it entertaining.

that play joke sounds a bit crap tbh. might not go down too well with the performers either, even if it is meant to be a 'joke'

Well MC's aren't really meant to ''steal'' the show are they? Why not just introduce the acts, with some enthusiasm, and let the other performers wow the crowd?

Theres nothing more annoying then the MC's popping back on stage, trying to be funny, when they could quite easily jump to the chase and say, ''....and the next act is, this is one of my favourites, ______''
