I have applied two roles for customer assistant at my local Tesco store and keep getting rejected.

I dont understand why but I passed this stage couple of months ago, had a interview then got the job but I wasn't fit for the induction as I sprained my ankle and the job offer was withdrawn.

The question have changed quite often so still unfamiliar with the new questions.

Can someone please help me with the correct answers? i would greatly appreciate if you could help me on this.

I have highlighted my answers in the bold and underline.

Q1, As a Dotcom personal shopper you will not get to meet the customer you shop for so you may not receive recognition from them. How do you feel about this?

1. I am satisfied doing a great job and I do not need recognition like this
2. I need this sort of recognition to be motivated and I do not think I could be effective without it.

Q2, As a Dotcom personal shopper you will be working under time constraints to fulfill orders. At the same time you need to be helpful and patient with requests from customers in-store while you work. How do you feel about this?

1. I am confident balancing time constraints along side serving customers
2 I think I would struggle to balance both of these at the same time

Q3, As a Dotcom personal shopper you will meet a lot of people during your shift, but you are expected to work on your tasks independently. How do you feel about this?

1. I like to work independently and feel comfortable dealing with things on my own
2. I prefer to work with others on tasks and I do not think I could work independently like this

Q4, As a Dotcom personal shopper you will be required to work early morning shifts. How do you feel about this?

1. I am happy to work the shifts that are required
2. I prefer to work later shifts and am not flexible with an early start

Q5, A customer asks you about their F&F order, you do not know much about it because that is a different department that you have not worked in. What do you do?

1. Direct the customer to the customer service desk
2. Let the customer know that this is not my specialist area, but try to give a good answer
3. Show the customer the way to the right department and find a nearby colleague and try to resolve the customers question

Q6, You have just helped a customer find the crumpets and they continue to chat to you about what they have been doing that day. You need to finish picking your customer’s shopping. How do you respond?

1. Apologise to the customer and tell them that you really need to continue picking the customer’s order
2. Start scanning your next product while listening to the customer at the same time
3. Take time to chat with the customer. Listen to their stories and see if they need any help with further shopping

Q7, You are picking a customers order when you hear a couple behind you discussing prosecco for a party this evening. What do you do?

1. Approach the customers and offer to help them find the prosecco
2. Carry on picking your customers order and do not interfere
3. Stop what I am doing and be available for the customers to approach me for help

Q8, You are still getting to know your team when your manager asks you whether you would like to help out in another department. How do you react?

1. Ask about which department it is, as I'd be more comfortable in a department that I know more about
2. Help out in the other department and get to know my colleagues there
3. Say I would prefer to stay in my department and continue to get to know my colleagues there

Q9 You are picking a customers order and notice the product is not available on the shelf. What do you do?

1. Check the stock room to see if there is anymore of the product available
2. Check with your colleagues if the product is kept elsewhere on the shop floor
3. Choose the alternative product and continue picking

Q10, As a Dotcom personal shopper, your trolley can sometimes be in the way of customers in-store. You may need to move your trolley for customers and stay calm and polite. How do you feel about this?

1. Customers come first and I would be very happy to work around them
2. I will try my best to not be in the way of customers but will try and complete my customers order as efficiently as possible
3. I would be frustrated if I had to keep moving out of the way for customers when picking for another customer

Hey, I know this is a fairly old thread now. But, just wondering how long does it usually take to hear back from them?

Hi Sam, Please can you help me with the right answers for this questionnaire? I worked for Tesco in the DotCom department for five years and was hoping to go back but I cannot get passed this questionnaire! (I have made four accounts and applied for about 15 jobs)Did you put in all of the same answers as above, apart from Q5 - Option 3 and Q7 Option 1?
