maths help please!

mark and Nathan shared money in the ratio 6:20
Nathan gave 40% to mark
write the new ratio
how do you do it?
My guess is:

40% of 6 is 2.4. 6-2.4 = 3.6

2.4 + 20 = 22.4

New ratio is (Mark : Nathan)

3.6 : 22.4 or with whole numbers

9 : 56

40% of 20 is 8
20-8 = 12
6+8 = 14
14:12
7:6

20 x 0.4 = 8 20 - 8 = 12

8+6 = 14

14:12
7:6

Right method just got ratios wrong way round

Let there be £26 for simplicity.
This means Mark has £6 and Nathan has £20.
If Nathan gives 40% of his £20 to Mark, he gives Mark £8.
This means Mark now has £14 and Nathan has £12.
This gives a new ratio of 14:12, simplifying gives 7:6.
