can anyone explain what happened with this girl

I have had a crush on this girl for 2 years, and i didn't ask her out until last week. She said she's had a bf for the last couple of months, but there is no sign on her Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter of any bf. Inside those last couple of months she has been staring at me in class, smiling every time she sees me, going out of her way to talk to me, and sitting next to me in class, all while knowing that I like her. I know I should have asked her out years ago, and when I have asked my friends at school, they are just as confused as I am. It's kind of like she wanted to turn me down in a way.
