bristol university and clearing

Hi,
I have been set on going to my firm choice (cardiff) for english until I got my A-Level results last week (AAAA). Their offer was BBC and I feel that my unexpected results may get me into a 'better' uni.
Was looking at Bristol's webpage (my brother goes there) and did not see any information at all on their clearing process. I am now not sure what to do as I really think I can get into Bristol but am lacking the means to do so. Have an appointment with a careers' advisor tomorrow but would be greatful for any help.

I don't think that bristol offer clearing places, and if they do, they won't have many. Most top uni's don't many clearing places, especiallty not for competative courses with high entry requirements such as english. You would be better off taking a gap year or something and reapplying. With those grades it might even be worth applying for oxbridge, if that is your thing. They deffinitely dobn't have clearing places.

i got into bris for english with those grades. you should definitely give it a shot - post a level application. bristol hasn't entered clearing at all except for audiology or soemthing random like that, so you wouldn't get it this year. but i can recommend taking a gap year, and they seemed to like it when i asked about their opinion on gaps. in fact, you MUST take a gap year just cos it's a brill experience provided you use it right!

Ok, just found these off the Bristol website...

"Bristol University does not enter clearing"...

and for english...

"Since this is a very popular course, receiving in excess of 1500 applications for only 65 places, most of the students admitted have an excellent examination record (typically, three A grades at A-level, backed up by A or A* grades in most of their GCSEs), though the academic profile of the mature students is much more varied. "

oh well, i suppose cardiff aren't that bad really!

EDIT: (i know who you are  ).....take a gap year is my already spoken advice.
