A ball of mass 200grams is dropped and falls for 3 seconds before hitting the ground. Air resistance applies a constant force 0.5N against the ball's motion. When the ball hits the ground which is made up of sand it takes 0.001 seconds to come to a complete rest whilst decelerating uniformly. What distance does the ball travel into the sand before coming to a stop?

Find total force from F=mg -air. Then rearrange this into the momentum equation with change in momentum divided by time to get velocity upon impact with the sand. Then find decceleration in the sand using change in velocity dived by time. Then use s=ut +1/2at^2 where u is velocity upon impact.
