Thanks, but could you also add the marks available for each question ???

Has anyone done a mark scheme for the foundation paper?
Question 8 is wrong:

You are proposing that miles = 1.6 x kilometres
In this case, 80 kilometres must be 1.6 x 80 = 80 + 48 = 128 miles.
However, 80 kilometres is actually 50 miles.

Rather, consider this:
- y/miles is directly proportional to x/kilometres
- therefore y/x = 50/80 = 5/8 = k
- thus y = 5/8x

Let's check this with the conversion given that 80 km = 50 miles.
50 = 5/8 x 80
50 = 50 --> it works.

Thus, y = 5/8 x = 5x/8.
To be honest, I think that the grade boundaries prediction is a bit too high. I believe that since the paper is meant to be harder than the last year paper, I believe that it's going to be lower.

But 40 for a 5 and 50 for a 6. Really? The test may be alright but I can't believe that the grade boundaries will be this high. If they did this, then AQA must be on drugs.

The grade boundaries have never been that high and this year is meant to be 'harder' - I also think that your proposed grade boundaries are wrong.

i made them higher so that people will aim higher in the next papers. What is ur proposed boundaries?

The majority of schools in my county recommended grade boundaries of 40 for a 6, 50 for a 7, etc, with them potentially being either 5 lower or 5 higher either way.

I think those boundaries are way too low - I think a 50 in each paper would be a 7, every school in my county agrees, but there's no way to be sure; the grade boundaries have never been as low as you suggest though.

Yeah. I was surprised tbf but many schools around me have 33% as a 5

Yeah that seems very low - the grade boundary for our (3) exams was 120 for a 6, and 150 for a 7. I got a 6 in the mock and am now predicted a 7, so fingers crossed.

my teachers mixed the papers up so the total mark was 274. I got 270 and it was a 8...

That seems ridiculous - maybe they want to try to get people to work harder? God knows but that seems far too high.
