Hey, I'm a first year medical student and just completed my OSCE. It wasn't too bad but about halfway through, I had to take a blood pressure. Easy enough.
Except that the sphygmomanometer was broken. In fact, all three were broken. I tried and tested each one (along with the examiner) and none worked lol. By the end of the station I had literally only managed an introduction and recording of the patient's radial pulse.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? As I was walking out the examiner said "don't worry I'll sort it" whatever that meant. I can see this being relatively common with so many different procedures so it'd be nice to find someone else who's gone through it, more than anything to find out what actually happens? Understandably, the examiner couldn't stop the OSCE and explain what was going to happen.
So would that station be removed from everyone's OSCE? Would I automatically pass? Would I fail? I'm currently awaiting an email back but I thought this couldn't hurt either.
Apologise if this is in the wrong sub-section. Couldn't decide which to put it in.
