Deloitte interview

Rite..... Ive got the first deloitte interview in about 2 weeks, ive read on the forum and various other literature that the interview will consist of core competencies, commercial awareness etc... Firstly i cant find Deloittes core competencies anywhere on the site, and secodly im struggling with how to start preparing on questions like what i know about deloitte and what il be doing in the deloitte sector as ive been told these could be some of the qus they ask and with the commercial awareness i was going to mention the CGT although how i can talk about that for over 2mins will be a struggle. Id appreciate any ideas as its my 1st interview and im stressing big time. Cheers.

In terms of commercial awareness, just talk about your favourite press (please don't say the Sun). Mention a recent relevent article for example.

I don't want to start a whole new topic so I thought I'd ask here as it sounds relevant. When you are given an offer (from any big4), on average, how long do you have to reply?
^^ It depends and unless its close to the start date there isnt any set period, but rule of thumb would probably be 1 month.

typerr,

I made this topic after my Deloitte assessment day:

Might be of some help.

For commercial awareness, literally just read up on a couple of business stories....your sources can be literally anything reliable or reputable....I used BBC and Yahoo business news pages.

They dont tend to ask what you know about Deloitte, but they do ask alot about why you would choose Deloitte over for example, any of the other big 4. And they ask what you understand your role will be. Im not sure what service line youre applying for so Im not sure if Id be able to help much.

If youre struggling, go for the convenient answer....that you liaised with your university careers service, and then just expand on that.

When I received my Internship offer I was given 3 weeks to reply.

When I received my Graduate offer I think I was given 2 weeks.

If you have several offers on the table then phone HR and explain the situation and they'll probably be quite flexible and allow you more time to decide.

Hi there,

since you are on the topic of offers... I was wondering how long it took you from hearing that you were successful to receiving the offer?!

Thanks

I got a job at Deloitte, but turned it down to work for PwC. My advice if you want to work there is get some interview practice at other firms first; first time you do a competency based interview can be quite scary, and other people will have practiced at other firms.

Hope this helps!

I got an offer letter 3 days after getting the verbal offer. I didn't actually get a contract for several months, but then I got my job in autumn 2006 for a autumn 2007 start.

Hi,

I have an interview coming up with deloitte. Wonder if you may be able to help alittle - I looked at your post but the info for some reason is deleted. I would like some info on competency questions and also what they expect of you when they ask the commercial awareness questions!

Thanks

What if you get two offers for a summer internship, and you dont know which one you want to choose. So can you accept both, and then pull out of one a few days before you start?

What made you choose PwC over Deloitte?

What office and department you working for?
