Lacking in Confidence

Every time I go out and see a girl I like I'm really reluctant to go over and speak to them because I have very little confidence in myself and contrary to what everybody tells me, I think that I'm ugly and have no chance with girls.

Alcohol does usually break the confidence barrier but I'm still quite sheepish and apprehensive. It's quite hard because I do stand out in the crowd which makes me think that the girls I speak to are just humouring me so that they can riducule me to their friends.

Don't know how to overcome this. It puts me on a real downer.

Maybe try going over to a girl you like with a friend, then get him to go away (nicely :-P) once you start feeling more comfortable?

Why do you stand out in a croud? Would you talk to someone just to go and ridicule them to your friends? No , because like other peole you have better uses for your time. Dont care what they think, its what you think of them thats important. Dont put so much emphasise on ' must go and impress and make her find me attractive and it will develop' .If everyone always tells you that you're attractive, its either because you are or you keep going on about how unattractive you are and whining. Dont use extreme defeatist words like 'no chance' of course you do, even if its a small chance. If it helps you to have a couple of drinks before hand do so, but dont come to rely on this and dont get wasted. I think at the end of the day you just have to be yourself, but pretend to be confident and charming even if youre not. You only live once, and as yet you've not achieved anything, what do you have to lose by getting the guts together to go over there and talk to anyone?
