Sooo hopefully someone can help me out a little bit... I just passed my practical test on Monday (22nd May) and as I'm 25 I can actually rent a car with enterprise despite not holding my license for a minimum of 12 months! BUT... I do have to produce my physical license (pink card). Also I am going to work in Miami for a year and I leave on the 7th of June!! So I was wondering if any knows how long it usually takes for the license to come through?? (I know they say about 3 weeks but I can't wait to finally drive without anyone else there!!) haha Cheers!!!

I would imagine it would only take a couple of weeks. I'd be prepared to wait the full 3 weeks though, just in case, it is a government body afterall, and you know what they can be like.

You can drive on your own without the physical licence, but if you're relying on the hire car, then yes, they do require seeing the licence. It might be worth giving the hire company a call, because I know when the licence was in two parts, if you'd forgotten the paper part, the rental company could phone DVLA and confirm, at a cost of £10. I don't know if the same applies to the main part.

PS. CONGRATULATIONS!
